We present a novel dialysis principle using a reduced dialysate volume, continually recycled during dialysis (multipass hemodialysis, MPHD). The results suggests that MPHD modality, using transportable dialysis volumes similar to APD therapies, provides adequate small molecule clearences, and middle molecule clearences significantly higher than short daily HD or center dialysis.
